Coffee and a Taproom: Where to Linger Near the Point

Some places are for a quick meal. Others are for staying a while: a second cup, a board game, a conversation that runs long. Here are three spots neighbors mention, one inside 98422 and two just beyond it.

North 47 Brewing Company (Browns Point)

North 47 opened in 2015 and brews craft beer right in the neighborhood. Alongside its own beer, the taproom lists guest ciders, seltzer, Washington wines and non-alcoholic beer, so there is something for people who don’t drink beer.

The brewery keeps things easygoing. There are board games and popcorn, and it allows food from nearby businesses, which makes it simple to pick up dinner at the town center and bring it over. Food trucks are listed on its current events page, which is the place to check rather than an old schedule. Under its posted policy, minors and well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. Look for its “Rooted in the Community” mural.

Asensio Coffee (Federal Way)

In the Twin Lakes area, just beyond 98422, Asensio serves organic espresso along with breakfast and pastry options. The shop opened in 2013. It is a good stop to pair with a morning at Dash Point State Park.
